M 36 Grenade Crate & Grenades

Hi
Just new to the forum and thought maybe you might want to see my 1945 M36 Grenade Crate & Grenades.
Original issue on crate is 5/45.
Reissued 12/66 ; 4/68 ; 1/74.
I am in the process of looking for the P-Kasten crate for the Luger Snail Drum mags.
Thanks for looking!!

Cracking crate, especially with the contents. Its interesting to see it is Naval Issue. Can you post a picture of one of the grenades out of the box please?

Cheers

Gary

Welcome to to the forum.

That's a nice collection. The crates and the det tins are rare anywhere. Yours looks to be in good condition all round.

Thank you, I picked it up from a collector in the Toronto area a year ago. He was going to use it in a display he was putting together, but then changed his mind and sold it. Another member wanted some pictures of the grenades which I am in the process of doing right now. Should have some posted tonight.

One thing your box is missing is the eight triangular packing pieces. Easy to make up. Here's a photo of some originals.

Thanks for posting the link. Interestingly my wedges are slightly different in size. 3 1/4 inches long. triangular sides 1"X1" X 1 1/4".

Here's a photo of my crate with the wedges in position, and a close up of one end of a wedge.

Hi John. That is interesting. I'd assume that they would be the same length as the fixed posts. I'll dig out a couple of boxes tomorrow and see how long mine are. Cheers

The drawing on the website is not clear as to whether the length is 3.25.or 3.5 inches. I would expect variations on these as the length is not really critical. The sides of the triangular end do affect the fit though.
