M1916 Stielhandgranate Pull-Ball

Greetings everyone,
I just acquired an M1916 Stielhandgranate.
The pull-ball is glass, not porcelain.
At first I assumed it was something out of a craft store, but the cord is correct, it’s tied correctly, I cannot remove the cord, and the other end of the stick retains its original wax seal.
Have anyone ever seen or heard of a glass pull-ball?
Thank you!
Roy

I remember seeing some where that several materials where used to make the pull-ball though i cant remember if glass was one of them, I think it was but I cant be sure

I believe this to be correct, I have seen several of the large head 1916 stick grenades with this glass bead.
