Hi. Heres one Ive been after for a while. It may have cost me my sole, but Im very pleased to have it. Unfortunately it came without the M217 fuze assembly:tinysmile_angry2_t:, so Ive had to make up a reproduction one as a gap filler. If you have a spare M217 for trade or sale, please PM me. Update: Hi, the suggestion has been made that this M57 has been repainted. Therefore, I have removed the photo until I can be sure how it should be referenced. Cheers

great picture if I may say so. These are very rare species. But I am at a loss at why they quite using them in Vietnam?
 
Hi Mark. I suspect that it was simply a question of cost. The added complexity of the impact fuze probably offended the accountants. I saw a photo recently of a Marine holding 3 practice grenades, one of which had an impact fuze. This was probably the exception, as even photos of impact grenades are unusual. Cheers
 
Hi Colin, That m57 is one awesome grenade, in fact the 4 photo they all look great. If I collected outside of WW1 they would definately be on my "hitlist". The stenciling is just fantastic. thanks for sharing with us BOCN members......Dano
 
Hi Dano, yeah the stenciling is nice. It's not as bright as it looks in the photo's (the M61 on the right is actually very faint). Always wished I could stick to one era of collecting, but I just like them all. Cheers

I heard that Colin, I would love to collect in different eras also. My funds are pretty limited and staying in one area permits me to occasionally get a "rarer" piece. Since I have always been most fascinated with The Great War that is where I collect. I do have some stuff outside of WW1 but generally it is mostly "trade bait" for WW1 items. The more I look at your m57 the more I like it. What a classic piece.....Dano
 
Its been a tough couple of years all over, for sure. Ive done a bit of trading, but this is my only major purchase this year. One positive (assuming youre buying that is) is that in general prices seem to be dropping.
