This is excellent, thanks very much for showing this manual. it has most of the missing info everyone wants to know. It mentions exactly what I was going to post one of my "famous" looooooong theories about. haha! This theory was about the black color of most WW2 grenades seen, and how MkI grenades were painted when live. It seems now that the grenades were the black acid free paint as I thought, not fully grey painted... they were black with just a dab of grey paint (or other color depending on the filling) at the bottom over the filler plug. At least this was the way it was done for the earlier grenades.

Thanks for the posting. It is interesting in that I have an original copy of No. 1741 dated May 18, 1911, revised january 12, 1917 and the only grenades it covers are the Babbit variations. No mention of the Mk I. Unfortunately at my advanced age I am not a Facebook subscriber so I couldn't print it off, but it is interesting reading.
