Hello,

Who knows what the markings means on this cartridge case?

As far as I know this is for the Naval Quick-Firing (Hotchkiss) 3-pr gun.

Length: 376 mm
Diameter on top: 47 mm
Diameter on bottom: 64 mm

As far as I know

RL= Royal Laboratories (Royal Ordnance Factory Woolwich)
N with broad arrow = Naval store
35 = 1935

Is this correct and what are the other markings?

Greetings - Antoon

Found another stamp: the 1 in the circle denoting that the case is fitted with a Mark II (thin) cap.

01 dated (1901). Accepted by a naval inspector on 13/12(?)/1901. Possibly refilled at Woolwich in 1935 (?), although other than the additional F, headstamps generally relate to repair contractors - but W refers to Woolwich as a filling factory?
