Hello. I am asking for information to identify these two markings. RPW I believe is a case repairer. MC is a manufacturer that I cannot find (Australian?), I see that it is combined with an asterisk marking. Thanks in advance!
Hello Dado
Your case is Australian made at Finsbury, Adelaide, South Australia. They used the MC code as they were near Cheltenham, Adelaide and MF was already taken by Footscray in Victoria .All cases were railed to MS filling factory Salisbury,Adelaide. The 5 point asterisk is on all my Australian MC, MQ and MF 25Pr cases but I do not know why.
Finsbury Ammunition Factory was built in 1940 and cases are noted with 1941 to 1945 dates.
RPW looks like an unknown repair mark but the case has only the original CF so not reloaded a second time or it should have an extra F.
I hope this helps you.
