Does anyone know the meaning of the letters "fdw 42" on a Eihandgranate m39?

42 is the year of production, I guess.

could you post a photo please. I tried to look up the code idw in a book I have on German codes, but this particular code isnt in there.

you are correct 42 is the year of manufacture

Sorry, it's "fdw". Another day I upload a photo.

it is the code to denote the manufacturer but I don't know which factory it corresponds to, sorry.

fdw is Gebr. Happich GmbH, Wuppertal.

fdw stands for "Gebrder Happich GmbH, Karosseriebedarf, Wuppertal-Elberfeld".
