We did smoke grenades last week, shall we try tear gas grenades this week? Only military - we can do commercial in another week, and only tear gas. Rifle grenades are ok as well. I'll start with some of US.

Here is my M58, its pretty ratty, and a variant I've never found documentation on. It has a soft rubber skinned body.

Then here are some non-US. I have a question for Ben, the two Dutch grenades based on the V40 - for years I've been told by Dutch collectors that these were tear gas, you recently mentioned that they were diver signals. Any documents?

How did you get past the glue to separate the XM651?

How did you get past the glue to separate the XM651?

Luckily just ran across an example that the ojive and fuze assembly unscrewed with just heavy hand pressure. It appears that the glue deteriorated and became brittle possibly due to age or prior storage conditions?

I do like the "ball" type US CS grens. I've not seen one over here:tinysmile_angry_t:. We do seem to have our fair share of Brit ones though:tinysmile_classes_t. Here's a couple of my favourites. Cheers

I've got the yellow band one as well, but it isn't ready for display yet - I had never seen one until the mid 1990s, and was told by several people that it was a new marking. A few years ago I was doing some work in Vietnam looking at CS burial sites and we saw thousands - so much for it being new markings. I also saw many M58s and XM54s - very tempting. In the end I took one of the color coded plastic bands from around the shipping container, that and some muddy photos was all I got.

Not grenades, but here are a couple more CS pieces.

Are all French Alsetex CS grenades used in the military? If so, I have one to show. :p

CS bits

These are all I have at the moment.
No 83 CS grenade by H&W,
MK3 CS by PW
2x 40mm (not sure on these at the moment, haven't really had time to look them up.)
Does anyone know?

Jeff,

Do you have the 155 or 105mm projos, or the 66mm rocket?

Nope, afraid not, though I've got a fair amount of the submunition stuff. I saw plenty in Vietnam, amazing amounts of stuff we left behind and that they buried, but I've got none of it at home that I can think of. Got some of the more serious stuff, but not CS.

I always loved the CS version of the 66mm rocket, I think it was the M96? But in 30 years I have only seen one.

I know the launcher system as the E8. During the battle for Hue, their were some Marines who used a few E8's on the NVA at Hue. It worked because allot of the NVA didn't bring their ChiCom/Soviet masks with them. If you've not seen one go off they are very impressive. In addition they had , I believe they had a habit, of going off on their own? By the way US-Subs, is the can shaped like device below the E8 one of the grenades it fired?

V40

U.S. CN Burning Gas Pot. Unfortunately the few of these that I have encountered to date all showed signs of deterioration from the filler agent reacting with the metal container.

Here are the few that I own. The first one is a M7A2 is dated 1945. Also, note the different fin style than I/O's has. The second one is the M7A3 and is dated 1956. The one cartridge is a 5.56mm x 45mm "Grenade Launching" blank. The last two baseball grenades are M25A2's and are INERT. One seems to have a date of 1970 and the other is dated 1976. Just my $0.002 worth for this thread. I also have a spring that fits on the end of my replica M16A1(only shoots semi-auto). Just cannot find it.
