Mills Centrecast markings

Just bought a Mills No 5 Centrecast from a collection in France and noticed that in the space between the shoulders and the main body there are two letters cast or stamped - an M and a W. My first thoughts Moorwoods, Mills Munitions and Morris Motors (but I think they only started with the No 23 Mk I which rules out a centrecast).

I've not seen this before. Any ideas as to manufacturer? I at first though they were two M's but it now does look like an M and a W.

Photos attached.

Any ideas?

John

Another thought - rather than MW how about W M - William Mills? Could be a very early Mills body.
