Anyone know if the early no 5 had a small split ring? .ive a no5 with cast and machined body with correct striker . .leaver but the pullring is two thirds the normal size . That and the pin itself looks old enough to be an original .i also have doubts about base plug marked no 5.1. 10 -15 M&P .any info welcome . Thank you .

Early Mills bombs did have a smaller than normal ring, I have two that have rings that I can't get my finger through. One of the reasons that the Bombers hook was made was to help pulling those small rings.

Hi and Thanks for the good info..was looking at repro hooks a couple of hours ago ..:)

Hi Darrol,

can we see a picture of the base plug? May & Padmore Ltd were reputable makers and were doing so in October 1915.

Hi Darrol,

base plug looks fine to me, gren excellent too.
Any chance of a piccy of the front of the gren as well? Its of the more rare type of centre cast. Does it have a brass or aluminium filler screw?

Hi Andy.
It has a brass filler .i will have a go at putting another pic up later .took over two hours go upload the last two (dongle) :) .
Thank you.
Darrol.

At least that's a comprehensive explanation for anyone not aware of the differences Andy. I'd love to see some bizarre variant with the seams back and front, but it won't happen!

ive put up a pic of the front of the no5 .hope its clear enough .thank you.
