Mine Query

Mine Question

There is some old WW2 beach Scaffolding that I was taking pictures of, and found in one area a circular object with a wire which is not for electrical purpose but attached to it for possible retaining or a trace wire to find it.

The wire is about 10" long, the cylindrical item about 10" in diameter weighs about 5 KG roughly and is somewhat battered.

I will post a photo of it tonight.

Does anybody know if the Beach scaffolding that ran along coasts had mines attached or around them?

I was not aware of minefields in the area, as most were located a few miles south. The scaffolding is located 100M+ in a dune area away from the sea so not directly on the beach.

I read that some mines in WW2 had wires attached that were run in a certain way so that they could be located at a later date by disposal personnel.

Has anybody any pictures of ww2 mines used for beach defence?
