Mister Bob (2011)

1964, Congo https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1833040/. Based on Bob Denard's life https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Denard, it is a half fictional account of Bob's life with Congolese politics as a backdrop. Actually, not much changed in Congo till the present, and not likely to be different in the future. It is a story of continuous deceipt, lies, switching allegiances, foreign meddling and murder. If none of it makes sense to you, you are not alone. But you will see a lot of ammo being used. And a lot of people screaming in French, and sometimes in English. Looks darn authentic to me.

In the early 1980s I heard of a man in my trade who I was told had left the army to become a mercenary and I took it with a pinch of salt. In 1988 I was shown an article in Soldier of Fortune magazine from a few years before, naming the man, and there was a photo of him, wearing his combat gear and with an ammo tech's badge on the sleeve. From what I remember I believe he spent some time working on assignments in Africa. Whether he survived to retirement I don't know.
