011.jpg Got this No.36 last week and the body / lever are A. Kenrick & Sons but the base plug doesn't appear to match up with what it should look like. About the only ref. Ive had time to look at is Davids site (Mills Grenade Collectors Site) 012.jpg010.jpg While I've got yall here, this Mills body has obviously been refinished but sorta just doesn't look right with everything else. My Question is "should I try to redo or just leave as is? I don't refinish grenades unless the finish I receive them in is just horrendous, but I was just wondering on this one. Ive also got some more Mills questions I was needing some help on. Will post when I get more time.

Base plug made by Alloy Pressure Die Products Ltd (APDP) and supplied to Thomas Adshead & Sons (TA&S), another grenade manufacturer.

Grenade in photo is indeed an Archibald Kenrick, so this base plug does not match the body.

This grenade may have been taken off the production line before final painting. The black finish is similar to a few I have. It looks well looked after. I'd leave it as it is.

Thanks John. I do have one that's a good refurb candidate. & would sure want your input, will post tonight.
The base is same manufacturer as the rest of piece?

John I apologize I didn't see what you wrote in your post about the plug i'm afraid corresponding on an iPhone sometimes I don't get the big picture. Again many thanks John!!!
anyone out there by chance have the correct plug I'm game for a swap :)
John, if you could recommend one book on this grenade specifically & British grenades in general. What would you suggest?

There's no book on the Mills alone that I know of though I know a couple are in the pipeline. The best book so far is Rick Landers 'Grenade - British and Commonwealth Hand and Rifle Grenades'. This covers the whole series of numbered Grenades made in the UK and the British Commonwealth. For people interested in the development of the grenade it's an essential book.

What is the correct base plug for a Kenrick grende.

They normally have the same K (with stars) symbol on them. Unchanged from WW1.
