New Kugelhandgranate fuze in my collection.
On the inert-ord. net written about this fuze but these info isn't correct.
They write that this fuze is percussion function but it's false. This fuze is friction function with striker. Look at picture.
Alex
Hi Alex, Sorry my friend but it is a percussion igniter. Also so happens to be rarest of German WW1 igniters as they were only made at the very very end of 1916 and the very very beginning of 1917. It was short lived due to complexity of construction. Twisting and pulling the tube armed it into a percussion device. The ones made in early 1917 had NO brass parts. Very few of these exist again because of complexity of construction and the obvious danger associated with percussion igniters in general. Excellent find as very very few of these have survived. For whatever reason the brass unit is harder to find than the other, though both are EXTREMELY RARE! I know of about 10 confirmed m1916 German percussion igniters in existance. I'm sure there are more but this represents what I have seen. I have one but the one that is not of the brass construction. It is an impressive looking little jewell. They were used on both Kuhelhandgranates and Eierhandgranate grenades.......Dano
