What is it? and why would it have a left hand thread?

Last one is a nose cap from something but what?

hi motiztab looks like a base plug from the bottom of a shell it has a left hand thread so it wont unscrew when fired

regards lee

That plug is a nice item. It is almost certainly pre-WW1 and possibly even pre-1900.

Lee,

Ok sounds right, right hand spin you would use a left hand thread, just looked a bit large for a base plug but then again i am no expert.

looks about the right size for a 12 pdr it would screw in the base of the projectile not the case

regards lee

hi motiztab heres a pic of a 12 pdr with the base plug
