Hey everybody, I have a 75mm here with the exact same 75x350mmR dimensions as the 1897 French field gun round, however, it is dated 1962??
I have scowered the internet in search of what this could possibly be, I know that the Sherman tanks and B-25H's used the same case, but niether of those were used in the 60's. I am at a loss here. :eek:oh:mystery75-1.jpgmystery75-2.jpg

The casing is marked 75mm FG, so it would be for the M1897 Field Gun. I'm thinking the B.H. 1962 is the lot number and the -18 is the year it was made. Also the fact that there is and ordnance mark (crossed cannons and surrounding belt) instead of a DoD Eagle (DoD founded 1949) would, I think, support this. IMHO, Bruce.

What is stamped around the primer. There is usually a date there too.

That would tie in with the 1918 dated primer too:wink:

Ya got me smle2009. I didn't even look at the primer and it was staring me right in the face:embarassed:. Thanks for the wake up call. Bruce.
