I read about very long darts from russian 3BM series for 125 smooth bore guns...do you have some info on origin? is it 5 fins tail?

Hi al'saad, its 5 finned. I don't have any information on its origin. The dart is a lot thinner than the Russian 125mm apfsds darts that I have (what do the 3BM series ones look like?).
Dave.

Dave,

What is the diameter of the dart body, and what is the pitch of the grooves on the body? Also, does it seem really heavy for its size like it has a WC or DU core or body?

The construction is not typical of any of the Russian darts I've seen, but they have a lot of new stuff in the last 10 years that still has not trickled out yet. The body is very much like the typical NATO darts, but the construction suggests a possible full up modern piece, as Hazord suggested. It needs careful measurements for any serious ID, and even then could be difficult to find in open source documents.

yes, swept back subcal fins are not typical russian solution for a HVAPFSDSs but as i said i red about new darts that are too long for auto loaders in T-80s and T-90s with 2 points of contact sabots.
