I suspect it is one of the three hundred patents registered in the US up to the writing of this article. Obviously one that must have been tested as this is the second example I have seen photos of. This is the only documentation I have ever seen on this grenade and to the best of my knowledge the US is the only place examples have been discovered, at least that I know about. The article credits the illustrations to "The American Machinist", obviously another magazine. Based only on that, I would credit this grenade to the US. Perhaps someone else has more information.
