I have attached a picture of an item I have been asked to identify. Not being up to speed on parts, could one of you guys provide an ID please. Thanks n advance.

No correct id, but I think it's a part of a machine gun.

I'm guessing the safety mech for a vickers. Only going on the S/F lettering (Safety/ Fire?).

It is not the safety catch for the belt fed vickers machine gun.

The safety catch is u shaped and wraps around the central trigger pad between the spade grips
