NAS Glynco is a decommissioned Naval Aviation Station in Brunswick, Georgia. The reason it was called Glynco (Glynn+County) because there was another NAS in Brunswick, Maine. It was done to avoid confusion. NAS Glynco was decommissioned in 1974 and disassembled into 2 parts: Golden Isles Airport (civilian) and FLETC Glynco. The following historical displays are from FLETC. John Glynn (1722-1779) was an English lawyer and a member of the House of Commons who advocated for the cause of American settlers. Many places in Georgia are named after him.
