Naval 1940 5.25 Inch chromed case

Picked this one up to use as an umbrella stand in my hall. It's a cut-down 5.25 Inch Naval case that at some stage in it's life lived in the Petty Officer Mess of HMNZS Philomel (Naval base) in New Zealand! Hope you like it :)

Looks like a well travelled case.
There is a few of these about in NZ ,though not seen a chromed one before.
Most seem to suffer ,as yours does too, of being shortened as there don't appear to be any of the cutouts at the mouth,usually shortened by only a few mm's,or belled out at the mouth.
