This pic is of a very large naval shell,now a war memorial in Westonzoyland,nr Bridgewater in Somerset.At least 14 inch id guess,never had a tape in the car to measure it.
Hey Tigbrand there is one very like that in Salcombe not far from me. Nothing on it to say where it came form though. Does that one have any history behind it? one of ours or a captured one....
Hi Weasel,the markings will be on the base outer,generally these are based fuzed Armour piercing with an explosive cavity at the rear,pity its cemented in!!! Its british id say. I was in Salcombe last year,but never saw the one there. Nice area with a lot of ww2 history too.Pm sent ref mortar by the way.Tony.:smile:
