US navy 5 inch illumination shell and fuze. Not sure of the age. The driving band is marked; 5 in S.S.MK.30 MOD 7 LOT 233 37 (Im assuming S.S. means Star Shell?). The fuze is marked; MECH.TIME FUZE-MK.18 MOD 2 (MOD 2 is Xed out with DUMMY stamped above it). Not sure about the red paint and white star being official, it is painted over top of light blue. Fuze set off powder bag in the nose which lit the illumination cannister and pushed it to the struts which forced out the base plate. The illumination cannister floated down under a parachute(missing on this example).
