A good idea is to have good reference book on Grenades. The best two are by Ian Skennerton and Rick Landers. Try ebay or abe books on the web. (the Skennerton book is currently on ebay, search Grenade, collectables) Both deal with the British numbered series of grenades and give a good background to the Mills. Another place to look at is the Inert-ord website which has some quality Mills content. http://www.inert-ord.net/brit/mills/index.html
I collect Mills grenades from both wars and often have spare grenades for sale. I'm sure others on this forum do as well. It also depends on what you want to spend. A dug up and rust pitted WW1 Mills can be quite cheap but a decent non dug grenade can cost you nearly 100 in some places. I have even seen very rare versions hit 450.
It can be an addictive hobby with variations of the basic grenades, the Nos 5, 23 and 36 plus hundreds of different base plugs from 1915 through to 1972. Welcome to the club!
