the markings are 1916 2P_. V.S.M 83 LOT 29 2.95in III if you know any thing let me know i cant find anything on this it was made into a door bell back when my grandfather had it

not my area but I think you have British 2pdr(pounder) made by Vickers sowing machine company,try a search on 2pdr and you should get a lot more info.
This is for the 2.95" Mountain Gun, not the 2-Pdr (which is 40mm calibre). I have a case with a similar 2P_. mark, but I have no idea of its significance.
