Hello BOCN experts,
This is my first post here.
I have been lurking in the background for quite a while and I have been enjoying every minute of it (smile).
I have been collecting small arms ammunition for over 30 years, but this site has sparked my interest in the larger calibers. The problem is where to start?
Over my few years of collecting I started by developing lists of cartridges from 1mm to the 30-40mm range and use this as a place to record information about the cartridge. I like to work from lists, (there are many for small arms ammunition) but I have not been able to find any for cases above 30-40mm. Can anyone help me out with a list or where to find one to get started with?
Thanks all and keep up the great dialogue!

The United States military comes out with a lot of different manuals on ammunition, some on WW2 are rather large and have a lot of color pictures.Hope that helps.E-bay ( I hate those guys ),Gunbroker, and Specialist Auction is a good place to look.

For the larger calibers i would like to add WK2ammo.com. This is a very good forum where all anwers are complied with drawings and documents!

The large caliber lists are scarce. Most people i know only have hardcopy versions.

Regards,

DM

Thanks all for the information.
I'm an information junkie. I have collected all the manuals I can get my hands on and have a library of a few hundred books and catalogs. I am very familiar with all the websites that were provided, but I am not familiar with R.C.J. Hawkinson though.
I had the great pleasure of working with George Hoyem of Armory Publications and helped to develop his website. George has forgotten more that I will ever know. I can blame my collecting affliction him (smile).

Robert Hawkinson list

Greetings all
I have heard & seen mention of the Robert Hawkinson lists a few times over the several years that i've been collecting.
Can anyone tell me how to get hold of a copy?
Please....
Thanks...Charley

Welcome clarkbr. I have one old WWII ammunition book that shows most calibers in color plates. Need some info? Ask me, hopefully it will be in there.
