Just in after 12 years of hunting -

There are no U.S. Navy marks on it, so likely a more commercial product.

Beside a regular projectile for comparison.

It appeared in a standard ww1 37x92 case so I have put it in an 1898 Winchester 37x136 case.
These were likely produced between 1894 and 1903.
