Your case is Italian. The model is 76/40, the manufacturer SMI: Societa Metallurgica Italiana and the date 917 is for 1917. What I find in the Hawkinson is a 76,2x441 case : 76,2mm/40 Ansaldo 1916 or 1917 for the Italian Navy. Very nice case.

Robert Hawkinson himself has copies of the updated list for sale at the St. Louis show. I know a British collector who bought a copy back.

This gun is also used in Finland, the case color looks like typical Finish lacquer. But I do not see Finnish head stamp markings.
At the 2016 St. Louis Cartridge Show I purchased from Robert Hawkinson, what was supposedly the last copy of the 2nd edition of his book.
But just in case here is the contact information (from IAA Journal Issue 489, Jan./Feb. 2013) for those who might want to see if copies of the 2nd edition are still available:
