NO. 34 Grenade Variety

Pea Shooter

Well-Known Member
Did the first variate of a No. 34 have a 34 embossed on the side? My grenade has the screw filler plug made of something other than brass and there are no marks that I can see. Is it a training piece? It looks like it might have been severely pitted and then covered with something to fill the pits. IMG_0109.jpgIMG_0111.jpgIMG_0115.jpgThank you, Vaughn

Vaughn . That's not the first model , it's a MkIII . They usually had the model , mark number & makers mark cast into the body . Yours has probably been filled to cover up the pitting so the marks are obscured . The filler screws could be either brass or lead alloy . Hope this helps.

Here is a picture of the four Marks of No 34 Grenade (Mk I, Mk II, Mk III Sectioned, Mk IV, Mk III Dummy Practice).
