No.36 base plug threads

Hi, I want to recut some threads on the bases of No.36 grenades. Can anyone tell me what die and tap I need. It looks like a 1inch UNF to me. doug

I take it that the base plugs you have are blown recovered ones? Its best to screw cut base plugs on a lathe rather than run them through a die. I have seen this done and the fit is 100%.

Best of luck with that . I've never seen anyone successfully die the threads back into a blown plug . Those dies are normally only any good for restoring slightly damaged threads . If you manage it , please post a pic & well done if you do !

Hello I am all tooled up for rethreading blown base plugs I have done about 60 or 70 and all fit fantastic. I could do yours for you and can do some trades in payment for doing them for you as I am collecting all different manafactures let me know if you are interested cheers rob.

I have had some base plugs done by Rob especially a brass one I found recently, the fit was perfect.
