My mum worked at the Abingdon MG works 43-44. They were making aircraft. The AW Albemarle.

Ha, well there you have it Millsman, the power of modern communication! I’m sure that quite a few people didn’t know who MG M were. Now a lot more know and even better, we all now know that your mum worked for MG building Albemarle aircraft, just a small but important detail otherwise missing from the record of WW2. In fairness, the Albermarle didn’t live up to expectations but did introduce a tricycle undercarriage arrangement to medium size British aircraft. Presumably MG being chosen due their proven record of building things in wood. Sadly my first sports car, an MG, bought in the mid 70s had no wood but plenty of rust!
My mum installed the wiring on the Albermarle. I expect they made a range of things but were probably not set up for gas checks.
