NYPD badge

I was given this badge many years ago by a mate in the US. He was given it by a fellow member of US Special Forces with whom he served who was then an NYPD Officer. It is crumpled and dirty because he spent the day, 9/11, crawling under concrete and rubble pulling people to safety. I have its provenance and the Officer's name.
Lets hope that nothing like it ever happens again.
