Odd 155mm Howitzer box

The top box is American too. It has the Ordnance grenade on it. I think the lot number has the date of 66 after it.
 
Thanks for your comments, I have about 20 WW2 boxes and this is the only one of this type and the fact that its about half the weight of the WW2 boxes, shorter in length and painted brown all seams very odd.

The British used boxes painted Service Brown no 2. Could it be American manufactured for British use? Lend Lease, something like that?
