Original 40mm Bofors 'REP' Round...

Here we have a nice original 40mm HE Bofors round that has been converted to a REP round. 1956 HE case, crimped in 1944 HE projectile and original 251 fuze. When these were converted and re stenciled the cases and shells were filled with a lump of something to simulate the correct weight. This one still has the filling in the case, i know this as it rattles around and grey dust comes out of the hole in the primer.

The filling has got a pretty nasty smell to it, i have no idea what it is. Im hoping that someone here has an idea what was used for the filling in these rounds??

Hi .In the clip i have the filling looks to me like fibre reinforced clay in the shell case and a inert black resin in the projectile .
Darrol.
