I don't think that a munition or part of munition but.....
Have someone see this sort box ?
It's metal with a metal cover, apparently the cover was sealed on the box with tape.
When it's open, it smell like gasoline.

My first idea is a sort of field eater.


Diameter is 16.4 cm and height 7.5 cm

Agree, it looks like one of those pots filled with petroleum jelly for keeping food warm. But could be a smoke gen.
 
Changed my mind lol and agree with racefiets as a smoke gen. Civy version below.

not at work at the moment (playing granddad)

Waow Chris, I think you are very close to it, but the measurements are not the same

DM-11 is 159 mm diameter and 108 mm heigth
Mine is 164 mm diameter and 75 mm height !

I think russian smoke pots is a good way ! Thanks

I thought so too, but different sizes. It isn`t DM-11
