I am looking for a picture of the Pak 35/36 round carrying bag, i mean the bag that goes inside the wicker carry case. I only have a picture from H.Dv. 481/73.
Hello
The 3.7cm Pak cloth and leather carrying bag is very rare. They are pre and very early war period as they were replaced with the metal container. I have only ever seen one example in a collection.
The wicker basket you have looks good. Does it have any markings or labels?
I have only even seen 2 other Pak wicker baskets and neither had such markings. The colour does not follow the code for pzgr or sprgr shells which was white and yellow respectively.
Is it possible Endel the colour marking was added by a later owner or have you seen similar on other baskets?
I have asked a good friend in Germany but unfortunately he was not able to help. It appears there is little to no information about the markings on ammo containers. The most you may find is a small reference in a general manual but my friend has a lot of sources and could not find anything.
Thanks StielGr, very nice pictures! Here are few markings from other baskets:
Basket 1 Fr Bierenbieler (stamp on the belt) Kehl
1930
1930 WaA 23 (marking on bottom of the basket)
Basket 2 WaA 47 (on the belt) JUD 1935 WaA 47 (on the bottom)
and 3rd elb 1935 (on the bottom)
I found one more wicker basket with stripes from this site http://wehrmachts.kisten.free.fr/panier_3obus8cm_2.htm i mean this basket which has canvas carry handle. The first viewed reused Pak basket on that site is also from Estonia.
I think here are a carrying bag which has been made out of the same materials like the Pak carrying bag, aint? But maybe the materials depends on only the period, have nothing to do with Pak?
The wicker 3.7cm Pak containers were reused along with other containers to hold different types of ammo. Production of the Pak was stopped in 1942 so there were a lot of containers free for other use.
The boxes are called "Aushilfsverpackungen" (stopgap or help out boxes).
You have been very busy Endel.
That is a really excellent display you have created. The projectiles are really interesting to see with the different stencil markings. It looks like you have the type 'A' and 'C' and some early white stenciled projectiles.
I have another picture to add to the thread.
In the picture the projectiles seem to have a white band but I am not sure. Can anyone else help?
