An artillery flare, most likely.

Not sure why the picture is rotated, but the three flare chutes are variations including one from a 26.5mm, a "slap" flare, and the larger one an artillery launched model.

What is rhe diameter of the projektiler?
My guess would be The Carl Gustaf 84 mm man-portable anti-tank recoilless rifle.

Thanks Slick good photos and a nice round. Anders the canister is 72mm diameter and 165mm long. The range was in the south of England 1985 ?
