Patronefabrik Karlsruhe revisited

In the previous NVBMB club magazine I published an article on the company behind the name "Patronenfabrik Karlsruhe", as I had found that most collectors simply refer to the cartridge cases with this name on the base as "Patronenfabrik Karlsruhe", not realizing (or caring) that such a company never existed officially.

The name is tied to the company we know as "Deutsche Metallpatronenfabrik Karlsruhe (DM)", "Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken (DWM)", "Berlin-Karlsruher Industriewerke (BKIW or 'Berka'), "Industriewerke Karlsruhe (IWK)", "Industriewerke Karlsruhe Augsburg (IWKA)", etc...

A nice piece of period confirmation came in the form of this letter, which was kept in the university archives of the Technical University of Chemnitz. Thanks to Stepahn Luther, Leiter Universttsarchiv, TU Chemnitz.

The key element is the telegraph address, of course:
"Patronenfabrik Karlsruhebaden"
