Good Day All,
I have been asked by our military museum to assist in identifying this projectile. I thought that it would be an easy task, but is turning out to be more of a challenge.
The projectile only has one driving band which is situated very low down, this would make me believe that it is separate loading.
My initial thought was that it is a 20 Pounder proof. How ever the fact that it appears to be separate loading has bombed that idea.
The projectile is solid and "heavy". Diameter Approximately 120 - 130 mm . Overall Length Approximately 220 - 260 mm.
If, from the description, we cant identify I will try to get better measurements.
