Does anyone know what the "S" stands for on this MKII PRAC BODY? I've exhausted all material at my disposal as well as search threads here. I thought I'd seen a post here before as this, as its a really unique marking. Thanks fellows!
No that you mention t the grooves do look similar, so I checked Lex (only photos I know) but didn't really see anything else in common. Of course I could e missed something, but I don't think so. I know Millsbomber didn't pull Norway out of random nations that made MKII's and that's got me very curious. Could use any clue ya might have Millsbomber. This is proving to be tough one to pin down
Well, when this thread started, my initial thought was the same as Millsbomber's - Norwegian. Mainly due to the color. Went out and found my M21 to compare. Mine has an 8 over a U. No clue what that deciphers out to. Anyway, here's another example of Norway's answer to the Mk2 trainer. To compare.
Here is mine, which has the same S-Mark and below U1-Mark.
Further it is painted light-blue (like the early past WW2 US) over what I would identify as authentic Oliv-Drab.
Note also the remains Yellow-Ring at the neck - with the Oliv-Drab as markers for a live-genade.
Having a look to the bottom You´ll recognize the pressure-release-hole of ...mm Diameter, which
is drillled quite out of Center.
The completly damaged fuze came with the grenade and I really had to use all the tricks to get it
removed. Since the fuze was messed up before I didn´t really care... . Remarkable is that the
Material of the fuze is what I think past war and much harder and different in consistancy than
the WW2-fuze-material.
As total it brings me to the assumption that the gren. is US-made. Started it´s life as Live-gren late ww2,
and had been transferred after war to Practice.
Many thanks for responses guys. I would be certain it's US made if it weren't for the fact that know one one can shed light on that damn "S"till keep looking and post here when I know something. Thanx again boys
