Can anyone tell me which primer was used for the 38cm SK/L-45 "Lange Max"? And can anyone point me in the direction of one? I have a Kaiserliche Marine-marked shell case but the primer is missing.
Could it be Zdschr. C/12 or Zdschr. C/12 n.A.?
They were standard igniters for big calibre naval guns. Thread diameter for both variants is 27,3 x 1/18".
That is likely to be correct. I have seen a pic on a website where the primer was marked "C/12". I assume that "Zdschr." means Zundschraube, but what does "n.A." stand for?
Thanks for your trouble.
C/12 and C/12 n.A. are practically the same. C/12 is as used in WW1 and C/12 n.A. ( neuer Art ) is internally slightly modified and used after WW1. For WW1 dated case the correct one would be marked C/12 but they are far more difficult to find than C/12. n.A.
