Projectile Identity Needed

Can anybody ID this. Currently residing in a museum collection. Specifications: 105mm long x 23mm diameter weighing 289gms /0.64lbs. It has a Victorian 6 pence inserted in the base. NPTMG_1978_44a_.jpgNPTMG_1978_44b_.jpg
 
289 grams is one heck of a weight for a 23mm projectile - the heaviest shell I know of in this calibre weighed in at 200g.
 
Yes - this is an odd one Tony. Some additional information: It is listed as originating from a Shell Factory - the East Usk Works during WW1. Possibly a presentation piece, but doesnt seem to match anything approx 1" type??
 
Interesting comment. The rifling band looks kind of professional (production) fit bit but a bit odd maybe. Enigma!
