the usual means by which the British army delivered propaganda leaflets was by 25pdr. Smoke shells were officially sanctioned for this use and could either be requisitioned for this purpose or found 'in theatre'. The smoke pots were removed at the point of use and the leaflets, in bundles, inserted. The shells were then fired as normal. The attached photos show the shells being loaded.Also 2 leaflets found a couple of years ago in France in a dug up shell - the shell was too far gone to be saved but its contents were in very good condition.
