Hello,

Does anybody know the meaning of the following shells markings in the red squares?

Thanks in advance,

SX - The manufacturer of the primer

James H. Lamont. Gylemuir Works, Glasgow Road, Corstorphine, Edinburgh 12

EB - Manufacturer of the case

Earle, Bourne & Co Ltd, of Birmingham Rolling and Tube Mills, Heath Street South, Birmingham.

This case was either from a contract of 1,000,000 or 1,500,000 costing 4/6 (22.5 pence) about 0.25 each

CCS - Canadian Cartridge Company .

The three leter string, as previously explained awaits explanation.

Hello TimG,

Many thanks for your indepth reply to my questions. Regarding the letters EB, I once also found these letters on a 40mm marine shell and the letters EB would stand for Eley Brothers Ltd London. Would you know anything about this?

I'll wait for the feedback regarding CCS.

Regards,

Jf
