In the 30th years, Germans have used capital letters to code the year of production.
I know the letter G is for 1935, but I have some others, I don't know. All are on various cases made by Polte. I join the list, with in brackets the WaA number.
E(75), G(107), K(75), N(75), O(75), R(40).
I should be very glad if somebody could say me to which years they are equivalent and if it exists another letters.
I wonder about the letter M. I have a case of 105x93R for the lFH98/09 made post WW1 by POLTE. I think the first marking was P 7 M. My opinion is that the M is for Magdeburg and not for a year.
Then the case have no date and no WaA. Can somebody confirm?
Later it was overstamped 6342 Man lFH and WaA75. This case was intented to be used as blank cartridge for the lFH18 which use a 105x155R case.
Photo 1,2: Stamping G on a 8.8Flak18, curiously it is cut down to 540mm (instead of 571mm), but since it is stamped Aush ( Aushilfekartushe) under the code of case 6347, it is perhaps normal?
