R.G.F. Torpedo gyroscope

I have been looking for years to buy one, and gave up the search some time ago. It turned up on a local marketplace, and thought I share this one. It is a Royal Gun Factory build torpedo gyro probably a Whitehead license with a low serial number. Guesstimate build around 1900.

Very nice indeed - great fine!

Yes the RGF produced torpedoes from approx. 1893 to 1910 so it would be around this vintage - probably from early 1900s as you stated since Whitehead only purchase the Obry gyro around 1897-98, and depending on how fast the exchange of information between Whitehead and the RGF after trials.

Absolutely beautiful!

I have a few various models of the, W&C and, RGF Gyros and am in awesome of their beauty and design. The amazing thing is, I have wound some of mine up and they still run like glass.
