Hi all,
I present you a rare and interesting spherical fined projectile with "Forgeot" fuze.

this system is an idea from Colonel Jules Etienne Marie Forgeot, french artillery officer.

This fuze, called "fuse 1 dure - essai 1868 systme Forgeot", was intented to assemble two spherical projectiles. Each of them was provided by a fin system disposed on a large circle perpendicular to the axis of the fuze, such that all two projectiles assembled received from the stripes a rotational movement.
the two parts of the fuze have two vents closed by a washer and a washer cardboard with wax, wich is removed before firing. The two ends are closed by screw bronze, and the fire is indicated at each shot by four lateral vents drilled over thes screw.
A groove was formed between the two parts of the fuze, to allow two separate shots at impact. But it often happened the fuze broke before that time and two shots went in unexpected directions.
