RBR M79 Osa Optical Sight

Does anyone know the correct designation, if there is one, of the optical sighting system of the Former Yugoslavian RBR M79 Osa 90 mm rocket launcher?

I have a presumed Bosnian or Croatian language manual on the M79, but it does not give the optical sight a designation, just refers to it as the 'Optički Nišan'; i.e. Optical Sight in English.

A couple of websites selling a Latin script marked-up sight shows its marking to be 'ON RBR-90M79', with the ON presumed to be Optički Nišan again.

Various unverifiable websites such as Wikipedia and CAT-UXO, with the latter often just copying data from the former, refer to it as a CN-6.

As far as I'm aware, the Serbian for an 'Optical Sight' is 'Оптички Нишан' (or similar), which would be abbreviated to ON (RS: ОН) again. As such where on earth are they getting the CN-6 designation from?

Did you notice this peculiarity? In the manual, the diagram of the mechanical sights appears below a photo and a drawing—labeled "Sl. 5"—while the diagram and photo of the optical sight are listed under the designation "Sl. 6." I’m not sure if this is what you’re looking for, but it’s interesting how that "6" became associated with the optical sight system. This is just my opinion; it might not be correct, true, or even relevant...

Maybe Akon, who knows how someone has interpreted the data? I mean I've seen some truly crazy interpretations of data in reference material I've had to clean up over the years.

I presume the Sl. is short for the word 'Slide' in Bosnian, Croatian or Serbian language: Slajd, Slajd, or Слајд.

What’s interesting about that sight is that it contains a radioactive source... along with a value in GBq . if I recall correctly. I actually held it in my hands many years ago...

Hmm, so CN is likely 'Ciljničke Naprave' in Croatian. I had this locally too, which is from a the 2013 'Croatian Defence Industry Catalog'.

Checking other sources, and the above, the CN-6 is for the Croatian version of the RBR M79 Osa 90, i.e. the 90 mm RL90 M95.

As such, there's still the issue of what the Former Yugoslavian one was designated as, and what it is designated now in Serbia (if that model is still in use).

Exhibition-grade ammunition and weapon (based on the markings, dating from around 2002). An optical sight—let’s call it the "old" model—was mounted on the weapon; the only difference is the rubber eye-piece (eyecup) that you rest your eye against, which was not attached in this instance... otherwise, there are no changes. Manufacturer: Svoboda Cicak, BaH.

the Serbian version (Osa-2) features a different optical sight, and the photo is from 2025:

It will be possible to identify the manufacturer by their logo...And then there is another type:
And the third type of optical sight is this one: judging by the muzzle protector, the weapon is an Osa-2.

I see another type here: ...

So, for now, including the old one, that makes 4 types...

You’ve got something to look for ...
