Real GERMAN Smoke sticks ?

I've had these for a while assumes the darker of the two was the real deal & the other not. Getting rid of some replicas I've had a while basically wanted to know which one to sell. I've read every thread on this forum but would still like to hear from Grenadier,EOD, Jeeensy, Paul & the rest of the experts. Thanks yall
Tim

Often times the best way to tell if it is a fake or not (sorry, repro) is to look at the steel plate underneath, where the stick threads to the body and the cap/igniter inserts. There is usually evidence of the inerting procedure used when the plate is cut out to remove the fill. Since it is not visible few take the time to fake it.

Need better pics of both, top and bottom of cans, take off handles and take photos of collar on stick and inside of cans. Bottom one does not look good (repro) and top one stick maybe good and can maybe new??? the stenciling on the can doesn't look right. More pics please and will have a much better idea.

Thanks for the response guys! Actually though, the handles were the only thing in question. Both the top (cheap repro)& the bottom (genuine "can",I think) have been reprinted. What I believe to be original can had been reprinted so thick it almost completely covered smoke ports. So, not knowing any better at the time, I stripped it down, & patched up some of the rust holes, & painted it. Anyway, I then put the handle that's on it now ( that was sold to me on an M24 can as a%100 original Stielhandgranate by a former member of this forum) thinking it looked more genuine than this thing I got off of eBay. Anyway, this was several years ago & have since learned a little bit since that time. Not that all that really matters, soo....I think the consensus is that the top handle is more likely original & bottom (lighter color) is repro, correct?

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. I would still like to see better pics of the sticks of the collars and the end threads. The collar on the top one does not look right and the screws holding it on are not correct. The stick may still be good but someone replaced the collar and screws at some point to make it complete again. Better pics will tell for sure.

Thanks

yes sir, tighe_n, your absolutely right. Those metal parts are from those cheap repros ya see for sale on Ebay & every other place ( in US ) they were put on this stick by me. Its actually a long story but at one time I believed the top stick (Just the stick) was the fake, and added components accordingly. I know this all doesn't make a lot of sense, as all this was done, before I had any real intel on WWII German grenades. Before I found BOCN. and certainly pre-Jeeensy "real or Fake" thread ( and others as well ) as far as the pic goes, the top grenade ( I THINK) is original handle, with fake metal parts. The bottom is (again, I think) a re-painted metal parts, on a fake stick.
Now im confused & my head hurts, Dos Equis time , boys!

Ok, I think I be got original ( at least mostly) parts on original stick. The "collar" that can threads up to look to be in considerably better condition than that of the can itself. I can't break down further as these two are locked up by corrosion I presume. Will post other stick pics shortly.
maybe I should have posted this thread in different forum category?
