Real or Repro?

A bloke got this "German Stick " from an overseas dealer.

It looks a bit dodgy to me, it is different in a few ways than an original one I have??

Is it a good repro or the real deal?

Thanks,

Ozzi.

A good replica I would say. In 3rd photo you see that threaded hole on connector is too small to adopt a fuze ( and looks like missing thread as well? ), the stick wood seems to be colored darker but very light wood color shows around steel parts. Pull ball and cord don't look authentic. Chocolate brown color is odd. On second photo head of the pot shows tool markings from making it by roll pressing in a lathe ( such do not appear in original pots ), ......

Has anyone looked at the color of the paints under black light? Might that be a giveaway too? I recall reading that fake army patches look different from authentic ones.

Its repro ,its the same as one i got except for the colour, looks like they tried to make it look more original by drilling the hole in top to make it look inerted, pull cord and beed to thick, mine cost me about 35 GBP,you will more than likely find where the detonator screws in is too small as well,i had to drill and thread mine to make it fit

I stay away totally now from stick grenades as there are too many `moody` ones about and is an easily faked item.Only one i have in my collection is out at our man Jeeensy`s for a restoration.

cheers

Real or Repro

Guys,

Thank you for confirming my suspicions.

The hole in the top was drilled by an over zelous "Officer" when it arrived in Australia!!! So that it could be easily recognised as inert!!!!!

The thing was already apart and couldn't see that it was empty!!! ???

Looks like I have some bad news for the owner.

Thanks again.

Regards Ozzi.

Perhaps the officer suspected that there is a double wall and a hidden explosive charge left in the pot :xd:

Australian customs are ridiculous. And very detrimental for the Australian collectors. It is better to ship all in several parcels, like Im doing. Post is higher, but you avoid that a silly customs crew destroy your item.
